Columbia Care PA looks forward to working closely with certified physicians to ensure the best possible care for the patients we serve. Please review the following information and feel free to contact us with any questions you have.
Physicians interested in registering with the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program must be qualified to treat one or more serious medical conditions and hold an active Pennsylvania medical license under the Medical Practice Act of 1985 (63 P.S. § § 422.1—422.51a) or the Osteopathic Medical Practice Act (63 P.S. § § 271.1—271.18). Qualified practitioners must register with the Department of Health through the online Physician Registry. Following approval through the online registry, physicians must complete a 4 hour training course from one of the approved providers:
- TheAnswerPage Inc
- Extra Step Assurance LLC
- The Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp at Thomas Jefferson University
- University of the Sciences
- Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM)
- Pennsylvania State Nurses Association
After completing the required training course, the physician’s certification application will undergo final approval and their name will be added to the Medical Marijuana Program’s list of approved physicians.
Patient Approval Process
Prior to issuing a patient certification, the registered physician must consult with the patient and review their medical history to determine that they suffer from a qualifying medical condition and that medical marijuana treatment is likely to be beneficial. If the physician elects to issue a medical marijuana certification for the patient, they must do so through the online registry. The online form will request basic information about the patient and their condition. Patients must complete a separate patient registration, which is matched with the physician certification before their medical marijuana card is issued.
Product and Dosage
When completing the online patient certification, there is an option to specify which products and dosage the patient will be authorized to obtain from the dispensary. Alternatively, physicians may authorize patients to make product selections in consultation with professional medical staff onsite at the dispensary. Patriot Care PA will have experienced pharmacy staff available at all times to assist patient in selecting the appropriate products for their individual needs and to provide instruction in the safe and proper use of each product we offer. Certifying physicians are welcome to contact us anytime for more information about our product line and patient services.

Columbia Care is a patient-centered healthcare company setting the standard-of-care for medical marijuana. We have four key commitments:
We consistently provide pharmaceutical quality cannabis products. Our partnering cultivation centers are equipped to provide natural and carefully controlled micro-climates for their harvests. A chemist performs extraction of THC and CBD, using state of the art equipment. Medical marijuana is then packaged and labeled, and sent to an external lab mandated by the state for testing. Our pharmacy team proactively educates patients on the safe use of medical marijuana.
Excellence & Expertise
We are the first and largest medical marijuana healthcare company to operate both dispensaries and cultivation centers across the United States. We have worked with many thousands of patients in over 100,000 interactions to-date.
We partner with renowned academic and medical organizations to drive new research. We have the nation’s leading body of clinical data through our patient registry. It contains data from thousands of patients suffering from over 20 different disease states.
Compassion & Care
Our mission is to eliminate suffering and revitalize individuals and communities through partnership, education, and the responsible use of our products as a natural means to help our patients lead productive and rewarding lives. We offer discounts to senior citizens, military veterans, Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, and SSDI patients.
