SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)– A new business is moving into Scranton and it’s a first of it’s kind in our area.
“Columbia Care” a medical marijuana dispensary opens Monday at it’s new location in the Keyser Oak shopping center in Scranton.
Owners held a ribbon cutting to showcase the new facility and show off the new security features.
The head of security is a retired State Police Trooper who says they have “Airport Grade Security”.
Multiple cameras will be monitored 24 hours a day and there is a system to ‘buzz’ into the building and back out.
The CEO of “Columbia Care” says the strive to improve their clients lives by providing them with an alternative form of treatment.
The CEO says their average client may not be who you expect.
“Our average patient is a 54-year-old female with cancer. These are not what people think about. They are not looking for a good time but they are looking to maintain a good quality of life that you and I expect and take for granted sometimes,” Nicholas Vita, Columbia Care CEO said.
“Columbia Care” plans on opening two more facilities in the region/ One in Wilkes-Barre and one in Allentown.
